My visit to the Avatar in my hometown of Shrewsbury UK was rather disappointing.

We had read a lot of very positive reviews on reputable review sites, trip advisor and the like.

First Impressions and Seating

We were on our way to the pub, over the road and noticed it was very busy, we booked a table to ensure we could be seated later.

We arrived at our booked time and were seated.

Our drink orders were taken and we were given some time to take a look at the rather extensi9ve menu, everyone seemed to be enjoying themselves.

The food

We placed our orders and our food arrived a short while later, at this stage you may be wondering, what made it disappointing?

The food we received had several major flaws,

The food was so spicy, we ordered relatively mild food, chicken chat, and a platter for starters, the chicken chat was especially spicy, I believe this is done to hide the lack of flavour,

The mains arrived a while later, by this time I doubted I could handle another spicy dish.

I ordered the chicken Karai,  normally a very mild dish. with a lot of flavour from the peppers and onions.

The karai was so full of oil I could taste it, this made it very hard to eat, but I could normally just about forgive this.

But the next day I sent the majority of the day on the toilet with a nasty case of rather unpleasant runs.

My stomach is very used to this kind of food (Indian being a favourite food for me, and I eat a lot of spicy food.)

This is absolutely unforgivable, especially with the amount we were charged for a small glass of white wine, at £4.00 odd.

Avoid this restaurant at all costs.

The Service

The service cannot be faulted, the staff were very pleasant, and it was nice to see a lot of them wearing traditional garments.
