Today I am going to be reviewing a recent purchase I made.
I’ve used a fair few HDD docking stations in the past.
But this for the money was by far the worst I’ve used.
It arrived promptly after ordering on amazon. I expected it to be plug and play.
I opened the neatly packaged box to find a media disk and a manual with scant English instructions.
I plugged in the drive via my usb hub, it installed drivers, notifying me on my task bar.
I inserted the mini disk, which was not boot-able and could only be opened like a folder, on top of this I had to find the setup files my self and run them, not knowing what software it was installing.
I checked out the software to find an amateur backup and cloning software that didn’t work unless ran as admin.
After an hour of tinkering I could see the drive on my computer, but nothing happened when I inserted an HDD, (it accepts 2.5″ and “3.5”)
After a further hours troubleshooting i realized it wasn’t mounting to my PC.
Even now its still temperamental.
Although it works, i would not expect a non IT pro using this for backup purposes(which it claims to be great for) to be able to use it let alone set it up.
Based on this I give it a 2 star rating.
