Today I am going to be reviewing a recent purchase I made.<\/p>\n
I’ve used a fair few HDD docking stations in the past.<\/p>\n
But this for the money was by far the worst I’ve\u00a0used.<\/p>\n
It arrived promptly after ordering on amazon. I expected it to be plug and play.<\/p>\n
I opened the neatly packaged box to find a media disk and a manual with scant English instructions.<\/p>\n
I plugged in the drive via my usb hub, it installed drivers, notifying me on my task bar.<\/p>\n
I inserted the mini disk, which was not boot-able and could only be opened like\u00a0a folder, on top of this I had to find the setup \u00a0 files my self and run them, not knowing what software it was installing.<\/p>\n
I checked out the software to find an amateur backup and cloning software that didn’t work unless ran as admin.<\/p>\n
After an hour of tinkering I could see the drive on my computer, but nothing happened when I inserted an \u00a0HDD, (it accepts \u00a02.5″ and “3.5”)<\/p>\n
After a further hours troubleshooting i realized it wasn’t mounting to my PC.<\/p>\n
Even now its still temperamental.<\/p>\n
Although it works, i would not expect a non IT pro using this for backup purposes(which it claims to be great for) to be able to use it let alone set it up.<\/p>\n
Based on this I give it a 2 star rating.<\/p>\n
